Yes, but we are not listening to CD's but to mp3's which are already
ripped off the CD's. The part that Harondel wants is to automate the
extraction and conversion of the files from cdrom song files to mp3's in
a shared dir, which then icecast can randomly choose and broadcast.

You mean wavs?

This is dependant upon your ripper program. Basically what my idea is,
whenever a new cdrom is detected, a program is lanched which converts
the cd-songs to wav and then that program or another program converts
those wavs to mp3. Now we have ripped off a cd and made mp3's which are
copied to a share icecast server dir(which can or cannot be temporary).

Anyway, during our this process, we also created some wav files, which
are taking up disk space. We lauch a cron job/or program/shell
subfunction() that rm -rf /tmp/*.wav or something.

Just an opinion;-)
