Hi all,
I'm having some trouble configuring Apache and PHP do do
what I want here. It's primarily a rewriting problem in
that I want all requests to an *.html to go to *.html.gz,
Apache to uncompress the file using gunzip or zcat and
process it with PHP before output to the browser.
Basically I want to gzip my .html files and not have to
change the <a href> tags which point to them.
It looks almost like mod_rewrite and AddHandler could
accomplish this but I can't figure out how, after
decompression, to get PHP to act as a handler on the
output of gunzip.
If anyone knows how this can be done either via mod_rewrite
or the Apache module API, I would appreciate hearing from
you.
Cheers,
Shane
