No actually Dan, this isn't enough info to help you.

Particularly important is what exactly the problem you are having is. Just
saying it doesn't work doesn't tell us much, does the network card work, is
routing setup, what about dns, etc, any one of these could be the problem or
maybe a combination of the above.

The steps you've taken are necessary for us to see where you are going/have
gone wrong.

If you are setting up for a static IP, there are a few different steps that
if using dhcp, so.... your experience with @home isn't necessarilly totally
relevant, although there are some similarities in the necessary files to
edit.

Also with telus you have to go to the OCA page and register your mac address
(at least with the dynamic addresses) and it wouldn't surprise me if you had
to do the same with static addresses.

So, come back with a few more details and then we might be able to come up
with some more succint and detailed suggestions.
