Hi there...
I don't know to much about installing Linux I only installed it so I could SSH
into my work computer and to get more familiar with the Unix system.
I can't however get my network card to work under Linux. During the install
it asked me what it was so I picked the DC 21X40 option which I presumed
should work for my Acer network card which is based on the DEC 21140AF chip??
This installer said the card was detected and I don't receive anyerrors upon
boot up. I also used that same card last year when I had Linux installed on
the exact same computer. The only thing that has changed since then is that I
know have RedHat Linux 7.0 instead of 6.1 and I have the 3Com adsl modem
instead of the Cisco 675.... The Linux system does say that the card (eth0)
is active. If I use net monitor however it cannot connect to and monitor
eth0...
If anyone thinks they know what I missed than let me know..
I don't know if the card isn't installed properly. I can't get to the OCA
site and register my Ethernet card address either and under windows it always
works even if I haven't gotten my real IP from the DHCP server yet...
Please help
