Hi. While at Comdex manning the Vanlug booth, I took a gander around and
asked about wireless lan. Everyone told me that the maximum speed was
eleven megabits per second, i.e. approximately the same speed as thinwire
coax. After pressing the issue, I was able to extort the promise that
next year there should be twenty eight megabit per second wireless lan.
For wireless lan to be useful to me it must have a speed limit of about
one hundred megabits per second, or greater, as I frequently transfer
twenty five gigabytes of data between nodes on the network. Does anybody
know of a time frame when such speeds will be available and affordable
on wireless lan?
Maybe this is a question I should ask IBM this coming monday, with their
presentation on "bluetooth".
ps: Can I pick up my laminated Vanlug membership card at this meeting?
