Hi, all.
Tonight's advance sales of VanLUG Membership/Discount Cards ($10 ea.) and door
prize tickets ($2 each, 3/$5) for the incredible assortment of Christmas door
prizes from Red Hat Software has attracted considerable interest.
Steve Roy, Bill Gillespie, and hopefully a few other steering committee
members will be out at UBC, CSCI 201 from 6:30 pm onwards to handle the demand
before the meeting starts. (Note that cards will be issued tonight, but won't
be honoured by our charter sponsors until later this week.)
For clarification: Membership in the VanLUG is free, but you must supply us
with your mailing address and contact information before we're allowed to
count you as a member. And you must be a member of VanLUG before you can
purchase a membership/discount card.
On a related note: VanLUG has passed another step in the process of becoming
incorporated under the BC Societies Act - our name has been approved. Since
all non-profit corporations must identify themselves as Societies, our *legal*
name will be the Vancouver Linux Users Group Society. However, we will
continue to refer to ourselves as the Vancouver Linux Users Group and/or
VanLUG in brochures and such. Thanks to Ken Moren, Kyle Bagnall, Ben Holt,
and the rest of the steering committee for taking us this far!
