*Anyone* interested in Linux, UNIX, or GNU software is
most welcome to attend. The theme for tonight's meeting
is "Preparing for the Worst - Power Hits and Disk Crashes".

(Note: The nearest parkade is the Health Sciences Parkade
just off East Mall. Parking is a flat $3 after 6 pm. See

(Our meetings generally attract between 75 and 125 people.
Attendees range from absolute newcomers to UNIX wizards.
VanLUG is committed to helping newcomers get up to
speed.)

(Admission is free to all. VanLUG discount cards will
be available at the meeting for $10. Draw tickets for
door prizes will be available for $2 each.)

7:10 - 7:45 Using a Best Power UPS with Linux

                   Jeff Alami

Brian will demonstrate how he set up a Best UPS to
work with Linux. Mister Jan will briefly review the
UPS HOWTO. Jeff will discuss the User Group discount
offered by Best distributor Exim Canada!

7:50 - 8:15 BRU - A Backup and Restore Utility

                 - Ya'akov N. Miles

Ya'akov will share his experiences with BRU and help
you decide whether to dump tar and gzip for something
a little more sophisticated!

8:15 - 8:35 Linux in the Video Media

                 - Ryan Land

If you missed some of the recent Linux coverage in
the video media, don't worry! Ryan will roll some
tape and bring you up to date.

8:35 - 8:40 Prize Draw

                 - Kim Kulak

8:45 - 9:00 Roundtable - Let's Keep Red Hat Honest!

                 - Kiel Foreman

While Red Hat's contributions to the Linux community are
legendary, we would be remiss if we failed to offer them
our thoughts concerning what they're doing right and what
we would prefer to see them do differently. Kiel will
moderate the discussion and prepare a submission based on
the results!
