Hi, all.
The Societies & Cooperatives Unit of the Corporate & Personal Property
Registries Division of the Ministry of Finance & Corporate Relations has
approved VanLUG's application for incorporation as a non-profit society.
Moreover, our request to be allowed to use e-mail to send notices
concerning general meetings (and financial statements) to members has
also been approved.
The official name for our group is
The Vancouver Linux Users Group Society
since the names of all non-profit entities *must* end in "Society".
However, we will continue to refer to ourselves informally as
The Vancouver Linux Users Group.
It is a requirement of incorporation that we maintain a record of all
our members, including name, street address, and, if applicable, e-mail
address. During the next few weeks, Ken Moren <kmoren@rogers.wave.ca>,
our membership secretary, will put up an online form so that you can
register at our web site. I'll announce to the List when the online
form is up and running.
