Hi, all.
BCIT-LUG is hosting an informal InstallFest on Sat, 1 May 1999 at BCIT.
This is a great chance for VanLUG members to meet the members of the
newly formed BCIT LUG and to check out the parking and facilities.
Marcos Bernaldez <bernaldez@iname.com> is coordinating the event which
will be held in BCIT Town Square D / Building SE 6. They're in the
lower left hand corner of the red zone on the campus map at
http://www.bcit.ca/CampusCommunities/Maps/campus_map.htm
Note, like on the UBC campus map, east is up on this map! (I mention
this because I'm told that it's been a serious source of confusion in
the past.)
In any case, Marcos will have posters up. Set up is at 10:00 am and
they hope to begin installing by noon. Note that the Elephant on Campus
pub is located in the *immediate* vicinity.
Jan Walter, Bill Gillespie, myself, and several others have already
committed to attending. We hope to see lots of other VanLUG people
there as well.
(BTW, BCIT is taking Linux very seriously now. I spoke at length with
an Electrical Engineering Technology instructor from BCIT at the ICCA
meeting last night. He told me that their management has apparently
reviewed industry trends in computing and decided that BCIT should
become a more Linux-friendly institution.)
