Hi, all.

This is the schedule for the next VanLUG meeting on Mon, May 17, 1999.
As usual, it will be held at UBC in CICSR 208. I'll post a formal
announcement to the usual newsgroups and other places next week.

              - Brian Edmonds, UBC Computer Science

7:35 - 8:15 The GNU Image Manipulation Program

              - Ben Holt, Electric Media Solutions

It's a paint program! It's a photo manipulation program! It's an image
format conversion program! No, it's the GIMP! Ben Holt, an experienced
multimedia designer and Vancouver Film School alumnus will show why the
GIMP has become a killer app for anyone who deals with images.

8:15 - 8:20 break

8:20 - 9:00 The New Linux Distributions - Red Hat 6.0,
              SuSE 6.0, and Open Linux 2.2

              - Brian Bray, Minoru Development Corp.
               
If it's spring, the new Linux distributions must be out! How do they
stack up? Brian Bray, a long time UNIX enthusiast and professional
software developer, will moderate a panel discussion which seeks to
determine whether the distributions are converging and which one is
best for specific purposes.
